It is best to decide beforehand with the client when you will submit your invoice. It is likely that you will submit your invoice either as soon as your nonprofit completes the designated work, or, if your nonprofit is engaged in an ongoing capacity, at the end of each month.
After you submit your invoice, you should receive your payment by the date you specified. If you do not receive your payment by this time, check in with the client to confirm that your nonprofit invoice was received.
